Male vs Female • They are HARD to tell apart. Here are some hints: • On the underside, females have leaf-like growths at base of some legs. These brood pouches hold developing eggs and embryos. • The first two appendages on the male abdomen are modified as elongated copulatory organs. FEMALE MALE
Breathing • Pill bugs breathe with gills! • So do you think they need high or low humidity?
Age? • Size really dictates how old a pill bug is. • A young pill bug will look a lot like the adults, except they are MUCH smaller.
