  1. Madison was auditioning for the lead role in the school play. She was a good actor and was doing well on her tryout-until she saw Ms.Amy, the teacher who was directing the play, frowning and waving a hand by her face. Madison

  2. thought she looked as if she couldn’t wait for her to finish. When she saw her, she forgot her next line and stammered. Afterward, Madison knew she had blown it. “Ms Amy knew she wasn’t going to give me the part even before I was

  3. done,” she said to herself. “I’m sure I won’t get it, because she made me mess up.” When the list of parts was posted the next day, Madison didn’t even want to look at it. She knew it wouldn’t be good news. And it wasn’t. The part

  4. she tried out for went to Harriet. “I knew you didn’t like my tryout,” Madison said when she saw Ms Amy that day. “During the audition, you were waving at me to hurry up. You made me forget my line.”

  5. At first, Ms Amy was puzzled. Then she said, “Oh, Madison, a bug was flying around my head. I’m sorry if I distracted you, but I didn’t make you forget your line.” Later, after Madison had gotten over being upset, she realised Ms Amy was right.

  6. She was responsible for messing up her lines, not Ms Amy.

  7. Talk about it…… Do you agree that Ms Amy did not make Madison forget her lines? Why or why not? What lesson has Madison learnt?
