  9. How many of these projects are wrong???

  10. None!

  11. All of these projects more or less are our Christian response to the Biblical call to clothe the naked and feed the hungry. Matthew 25: 34-36

  12. The United Church Response

  17. Thank You!!!!!!

  18. Where does your money go?

  19. Your generosity supports ministry and mission in every presbytery!

  20. In Maritime Conference Last year we provided support to: • Christian Council for Reconciliation • Karing Kitchen • Brunswick Street Mission

  21. Aboriginal Peace & Friendship Project (Tatamagouche Centre) • Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence Network Co-ordinator • CQS Care Centres • Coverdale

  22. Campus Ministries • Hospital Chaplaincies • Pastoral Charges • Transformational ministry initiatives

  23. We did all this with the $335,000 provided for us in Mission Support Grants

  24. This Mission Support grant money is provided to Maritime Conference through your financial support of the Mission and Service Fund. Thank You!!!!!!

  25. Our Challenge

  26. Since 1988 givings to the Mission and Service Fund have remained steady at $30,000,000

  27. Since 1988, prices and salaries have gone up substantially: What cost $100 in 1988 Now costs

  28. $161.73

  29. That means if you gave $100 in today’s money to the Mission and Service Fund

  30. It would be worth only

  31. $61.83 in 1988 dollars

  32. $30,000,000 of today’s dollars does not compare to the 30 Million dollars given in 1988. In fact it is only worth $18.55 Million. Inflation has eaten away the rest.

  33. This means that it is harder and harder to support the important ministries in Maritime Conference, Canada and the world.

  34. We already know that you are a generous people

  35. We know that the present economic climate is uncertain.

  36. In these tough economic times, we are not asking people to break their bank.

  37. When organizations come to your door asking for donations

  38. Please be generous but please don’t forget

  39. The Mission and Service Fund

  40. The goal for 2010 for the Mission and Service Fund is $30,200,000.

  41. We can only achieve these goals if we work together

  42. A special project idea from our friends in Hamilton Conference.

  43. What possibly can one small dime do? A dime buys enough gas to travel 1 kilometre. A dime might buy two pieces of penny candy. Not much!!!!!

  44. If every member of Maritime Conference Redirected 10 cents of their charitable givings To the Mission and Service Fund Every day for a year.

  45. That’s just ten pennies… every day…

  46. That would mean that each member would give an extra $36.50 a year to the Mission and Service Fund.

  47. That’s less than the price of one full tank of gas per year.

  48. If all 85,000 plus members of Maritime Conference gave an extra dime a day to the Mission and Service Fund
