  1. GATE 2022 Exam Pattern – FAQ 1.Where Can I Find The Official GATE Pattern? The exam conducting authority will release the GATE Paper Pattern 2022 notification on the official site – IIT Kharagpur in the month of July 2021. 2.What Will Be The Mode Of The GATE 2022 Exam? GATE Exam is conducted only in the online mode and in various slots, therefore the normalization process will be used to calculate the GATE Score. 3.What Will Be The GATE 2022 Exam Duration? The time duration of the GATE 2022 exam will be three hours. There won't be any sectional time limit, candidates can attempt the questions from any section of their choice. The total number of questions will be 65 and the total marks would be 100 marks. 4.How Many Questions Will Be Asked In The GATE 2022? There will be total of 65 questions for 100 marks in the GATE 2022. You will have 3 hours to complete your GATE exam. Also, there won’t be any form of the sectional time limit.

  2. 5.Is It Compulsory To Attempt All The Questions In GATE 2022? Yes! It's compulsory to attempt all the questions asked in the GATE 2022. However, there would be negative marking for any wrong answer in the MCQ-type questions. 6.Is There Any Negative Marking For Wrong Answers In The GATE 2022 Exam? Yes, a candidate gets negative marks for every incorrect MCQ. However, there won't be any negative marking in MSQs and NATs-related questions. 7.What Will Be Negative Markings For Questions In The GATE Exam? The negative marking for 1-mark MCQs will be ⅓ marks and the negative marking for 2-marks MCQs is ⅔ marks. 8.What Will Be The Total Marks For The GATE Paper? GATE exam papers will be for a total of 100 marks each, and the papers will consist of 1 mark and 2 marks questions. 9. Type Of Questions Will Be Asked In GATE 2022 Exam? GATE Exam question papers will consist of - Multiple-choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. 10. How Many Papers Can I Attempt For GATE 2022? In GATE 2022, candidates can opt for two papers for which the combinations can be chosen from the given list of paper combinations. The exam is going to be conducted for 27 disciplines. 11. Will Numerical Answer type (NAT) Questions In GATE Be Subjective? No, the Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions are answered as a numerical value only in the GATE exam. 12. What Is The Similarity Between All The 27 GATE Exam Papers? GATE general aptitude section will be the same across all the 27 papers carrying 15% weightage. Apart from this, time duration, question types, negative marking, and total marks will also be the same for all the 27 GATE papers.

  3. 13. Do All The Question Types Carry 1 Mark In The GATE Exam Papers? Yes! There will be 1 mark for all the three question types i.e Multiple Choice Questions, Multiple Select Questions, and Numerical answer type questions in GATE 2022. 14. Is GATE 2022 Exam Held Only In India? No! GATE is also held in overseas countries such as UAE, Bangladesh, Nepal, Ethiopia and etc. However, due to the COVID-19 situation, it seems difficult for international exam centers to function. It's better to wait for the official GATE notification to be released by July 2021. 15. Can I Use A Physical Calculator During The Examination? No! It's an online-based exam and candidates will have to use virtual calculators. No mobile phones, physical calculators, wristwatches, or other electronic gadgets are allowed to carry in the GATE examination hall. 16. Can You Provide The Details Of The Questions Allotted For 2 Marks Each? As per the GATE Exam Paper Pattern, the question numbers 26 to 51 and question numbers 61 to 65 are allotted two marks each. 17. Will Questions Based On Engineering Mathematics Asked In Every GATE Paper? No! GATE papers with code AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, and XL will not consist of Engineering Mathematics questions. 18. Does Numeric Answer Type Questions Have Fixed Marks? No, Numeric Answer Type questions won't have fixed marks, it may vary between 25 - 40 marks as per the GATE pattern.
