  2. Regulatory Overview Army Regulations • Environmental Protection and Enhancement (AR 200-1) • Environmental Analysis of Army Action (AR 200-2) • Land, Forest and Wildlife Management (AR 200-3)

  3. Army Regulations: AR 200-1 Environmental Protection and Enhancement • Defines environmental program objectives and assigns management responsibilities. • Requires the appointment of a trained Environmental Compliance Officers.

  4. Army Regulations: AR 200-2 • Environmental Analysis of Army Action • Integrates environmental considerations into Army planning and decision making. • Defines the decision making process in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

  5. Army Regulations: AR 200-2 (Continued) • Record Of Environmental Consideration (REC) Determines if a project requires an EA or a CX. • Categorical Exclusion (CX) can be used for routine projects with little effect on the environment. • Environmental Assessment (EA) is an extensive review to determine if a project will create significant environmental impacts. • EA can lead to Finding of No Significant Impact (FNSI) or a more comprehensive assessment of environmental impacts in form of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and public review process.
