  1. Chippewa Valley Linemen Big Red Pride

  2. TRUTH • Be who you say you are. • Do what you say you are going to do. • Be truthful to yourself and others. • Be accountable. • No excuses. • Seek the truth. • Demand the truth. • Tell the truth. • Live the truth. • If there is no truth, there is no trust. • If there is no trust, there is no relationship. • If there is no relationship, there is no value or substance to what you are doing. • From Mike Sherman • I WILL NOT LIE TO YOU, I EXPECT THE SAME OUT OF YOU!!! • You WILL screw up in the future, tell me the truth. • You do not want me to find out you lied to me.

  3. LOVE • Love your God. • Love your family and friends. • Love your country. • Love your freedom and those who protect those freedoms. • Love your teammates, coaches and school. • Love the game of football. • Love competition and winning. • Love all things that equate to winning. • From Mike Sherman • “YOU NEED TO HATE LOSING MORE THAN YOU LOVE WINNING!” – Billy Beane Moneyball

  4. ROLES • Each of you have a role on this team. • Starter • Scout • POW • Leader/Follower • If you have an issue with ANYONE talk it out in the locker room; the field is NEVER the place. • ALL OF YOU ARE LEADERS AND ROLE MODELS OFF OF THE FIELD. • Academically • Socially

  5. ACADEMICS • It is YOUR job to keep your grades up. • Anybody who falls under the team GPA of 2.0 will have MANDATORY study table BEFORE school. • Skipping will result in punishment. • Extra Conditioning • Missed Playing time. • If you legitimately can’t make a morning study table due to ride issues then you will be required to stay after practice. • You must tell me ahead of time that you can’t make it in the morning. • “It’s too early” is not an acceptable excuse. • There is nothing to be ashamed of in asking for help. • NEVER cheat or plagiarize…DO YOUR OWN WORK!!! • “Four years of football are calculated to breed in the average man more of the ingredients of success in life than almost any academic course he takes.“-- Knute Rockne

  6. LINEMEN PRIDE – OFF THE FIELD • Treat people with respect. • Use simple manners. • Golden Rule. • Convey positive attitude. • No whining or complaining. • Think before you act. How does this affect my name, family, and status on team • “Do right. Do your best. Treat others as you want to be treated.”--Lou Holtz • Live Clean: • No Drugs – No Guns. Be careful in relationships. • Never embarrass yourself, your family, or the Chippewa Valley Football Program. • You are underage, drinking is unacceptable.

  7. LINEMEN PRIDE - SUCCESS • Be Accountable • Admit when you are wrong and learn from it. • NO EXCUSES! • There is No Substitution for Hard Work. • Integrity – If not for yourself, your teammates. • Always be prepared • When you are prepared, you are stronger when facing adversity. • Do what has to be done • When it has to be done • As well as it can be done • Do it that way all the time • There is a time to have fun. There is a time to go to work. Be mature enough to know the difference. • WINNING is FUN • LOSING is NOT • “Winning isn't everything, but it beats anything that comes in second.”--Paul "Bear" Bryant • Other • Let me know of any or all problems. I do not want to learn about things through others. • “Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.”--Paul "Bear" Bryant • From Coach Anderson Eastern Michigan University

  8. LINEMEN PRIDE – Practice and Game Expectations • Be On Time • IF YOU’RE ON TIME, YOU’RE LATE. • Pay Attention • Meetings • On field – PRACTICE & GAMES • You are not supporting your team by “HANGING OUT” • Huddle • If you can’t do the little things how are you expected to do the big things? • ALWAYS clean, ALWAYS tight in practice and games. •  Hard Work • EVERY DOWN IN PRACTICE AND IN THE GAME MUST BE A 4TH AND 1 SITUATION IN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. • We WILL play the way we practice.  • Cadence • MUST use as a weapon. • False starts are a weapon for the other team. • MUST STAY FOCUSED. • Compete Everyday • A Big Red fights through the days you don’t “feel” like being there.  • ALWAYS FINISH • BLOCK TO THE WHISTLE • 10 YARDS

  9. Weight Room • You are expected to be in the weight room during all lifting periods. • Summer • Class • After School • This is the MAC Red!!! • WINNERS WORK TO WIN • “Build up your weaknesses until they become your strong points.”--Knute Rockne • The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary. -- Vince Lombardi

  10. CHIPPEWA VALLEY LINEMEN’S CREED I am a lineman. I am a member of an elite, selective group of men that have fought in the football trenches since 1869. I am a reflection of those who came before me and an example for those to come. On the field I am the meanest, strongest, cockiest, nastiest person who has ever walked the earth. Anything less is unacceptable. I do not care about stats, glory or fame. My stats come in the form of wins. Quarterbacks can’t throw to receivers, running backs can’t run, linebackers can’t tackle and corners can’t intercept without me and my fellow linemen. Off the field I lead by example in and out of the classroom. I will never cheat, steal, lie or do anything to let my teammates, coaches, family, school or myself down. My family, school and my religion are the only things greater than football. I cannot change those around me but I can punish, destroy and embarrass those who are against me through proper technique, strength and my desire to WIN! I will hold my head up high even in defeat because I know I did everything I could to help my teammates win the game. I will never complain, I will always be prepared, I will NEVER quit. Most importantly, I will ALWAYS work my hardest. I AM PROUD. (TOGETHER) WE ARE DOMINANT. WE ARE LINEMEN. - Coach Wangelin, Chippewa Valley Football 2012
