Agile is a highly iterative and adaptive methodology that allows for a great deal of flexibility and rapid change as a result of this. Despite its popularity, agile's history is still in its infancy. In 2001, a group of 17 software developers met in a Utah resort and wrote the "Manifesto for Agile Software Development" as a response to what they saw as heavy project management methodologies, such as waterfall. Agile Principles Individuals are prioritised over tools, working software is prioritised over documentation, collaboration is prioritised over contracts, and change is prioritised over planning. There are 12 agile principles that expand on the main values, such as prioritising customer satisfaction, encouraging change requirements, delivering working software, cross-team collaboration, face-to-face conversation, sustainable development, simplicity, the best architecture, and a team that strives to improve efficiency on a regular basis. Benefits of Agile Agile's values and 12 principles are reflected in its benefits. This process has the highest customer satisfaction rates, consistently delivers high-quality products, reduces risks, improves project control, and generates a higher return on investment, all while being completed faster. However, there are drawbacks to this, as there are to any endeavour. Drawbacks of Agile When it comes to agile, there is a certain amount of unpredictability, especially for software developers and engineers who need a bigger picture planned out ahead of time in order to better understand the project scope. Furthermore, while increasing communication between end users and software developers will result in a product that more customers will appreciate, it will also result in more time spent communicating between teams. In the end, a higher-quality product is produced, but at the cost of time.
