  2. Envoltat fidelment i silenciosament de forces benèfiques, meravellosament protegit i consolat, vull viure aquests dies amb vosaltres i amb vosaltres entrar en un nou any.

  3. El passat encara vol turmentar els nostres cors, encara ens oprimeix la feixuga càrrega de dies dolents; ah, Senyor, doneu a les nostres ànimes angoixades la salvació que ens heu preparat!

  4. I si ens allargueu el feixuc i amarg calze del dolor, ple fins al capdamunt, el prendrem agraïts sense tremolar de la vostra bona i estimada mà.

  5. Però si voleu un cop més concedir-nos alegria per aquest món i la resplendor del seu sol, recordarem el passat: tota la nostra vida us pertany.

  6. Deixeu que avui flamegin, calents i suaus, els ciris que vós portàreu a la nostra obscuritat, i, si és possible, aplegueu-nos novament. Sabem que la vostra llum brilla en la nit.

  7. Quan el silenci regni profund al nostre entorn, deixeu-nos sentir aquell gràvid so del món, que invisible s’escampa entorn nostre, el suprem himne de lloança de tots els vostres fills.

  8. Protegit meravellosament per forces benèfiques, esperem confiats el que vindrà. Déu és amb nosaltres matí i vespre i realment en cada nou dia.
