  3. Gladiator weapons and armor The gladiators weapons consist of mainly sharp items including, swords, spears, small knives, and bow and arrows. The gladiators would need these weapons to fight each other and even wild exotic animals from across the world that are imported to fight at the coliseum. The gladiators armor would have to be very protective most of the armor was made out of metal.

  4. When was it built? No one really knows the exact year the coliseum began being built. But we do know that it took from about 70 AD to 80 AD. The emperor at the time was emperor Vespasian.

  5. Uses of the coliseum The coliseum was created for many reasons. The main reason the coliseum was created was for the bloody games that the people of Rome found entertaining. These games included the basic duel between two men, a fight between a man and a ferocious animal, and their naval battles.

  6. Inside the coliseum Inside the coliseum there are many underground trapdoors and wooden elevators that would lift up the gladiator or caged beast. Also in the coliseum the arena seats approximately 5000 people.

  7. Why is it important today? I think the roman coliseum is important today because it is a historical place in a historical time period. It was also a very bad place because of all of the killings that went on in the roman coliseum. That is why I think it is important today.
