  3. Please write in the comments below the first thing that comes to mind when you read the phrase 'evangelical Christian'.

  4. Leading Negative Question • American Nightmare • At its best a call to action, at its worst a call to be reactionary • Outdated, loaded and offputting • Stadium churches, 'Pastors' that live in mansions, selectively fundamental • Over use of chorus pedals on guitars • Judgemental. Elder brother syndrome. Pious. Finger pointing. Intransigent. • I can't help but think of the sandle-clad, megaphone-wielding prophets of doom who pace & shout on city centre high streets • A Christian who is outgoing, friendly and wants to tell others about Jesus Christ

  5. Evangelical Christians:

  6. Plus… The presence of the Holy Spirit to speak, lead and act in the world.

  7. I have decided to follow Jesus • But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

  8. The Bible is… • All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of Godmay be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16f

  9. The Cross has said it all • “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. 1 Peter 2:24f

  10. Just do it • He is about to break into the open with his rule, so proclaim the Message with intensity; keep on your watch. Challenge, warn, and urge your people. Don’t ever quit. Just keep it simple. 2 Timothy 4:2 (MSG)

  11. Be filled with the holy spirit • Don’t drink too much wine. That cheapens your life. Drink the Spirit of God, huge draughts of him. Sing hymns instead of drinking songs! Sing songs from your heart to Christ. Sing praises over everything, any excuse for a song to God the Father in the name of our Master, Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:18f
