Articulation • Articulation refers to a student gaining entry into either the second or third year of a university degree course after completing an HNC or HND at college. • SFC “Our goal is that by 2025-26 two thirds of HN entrants will progress with advanced standing. As noted above, it is currently 49.4%.”

  10. Widening Access “We want to increase opportunities for people from every background. We select our students based on merit, potential and the ability to benefit from the education we offer. Put simply, we look for more than just your grades. We consider the circumstances of your education and will make lower offers to certain applicants as a result.” University of Strathclyde

University – Key Facts • You need 3-6 Highers to get into University • Some Universities are very specific about what grades they expect you to get from S5 so check before you choose your subjects! • You can use College as a route into University if you don’t get what you need from school. • You get the chance to visit Universities before you apply so you can see what they are like.

College – Key Facts • College can be a route into employment or into Higher Education • There are a wide range of subject areas offered at College that can allow you to learn more about areas before committing to further study or a career • You can still apply to college even if you don’t know what you’ll get in your exams. You might be offered a conditional place at College where the place is on hold for you until you get your exam results. • You apply to college directly and you can apply to as many colleges as you want. • January and August starts • Applications open January – Always check!!
