  1. CELF Project BOF Tim Bird CELF Architecture Group Chair

  2. Topics • Quickie CELF Initiatives Overview • CELF Test Lab demonstration • Config Weight Size Test • CABI (CPU Resource Management) • Jamboree Report • Review of CELF members' project list • Annual CELF "Challenge" Items • Open Discussion

  3. Quickie CELF Initiatives Overview • Iinitiatives and projects that CELF is directly managing and funding: • Linux-tiny mainlining, and bloatwatch (via Selenic Consulting - Matt Mackall) • UHAPI/DirectFB integration (via Dennis Kropp) • CELF Open Test Lab (via Nomad Global Solutions) • Embedded Linux Conference • Regional Conferences

  4. CELF Test Lab • Shared resource for CELF members and wider community • Use cases: • Automated multi-platform testing • Nightly regression tests • Private test usage • Interactive board usage via remote access

  5. CELF Test Lab Info • Defines an architecture for host-target style testing (not found in other test systems) • Basic lab infrastructure is now set up • Builds OpenEmbedded distribution from scratch • Tests can be scheduled and run remotely on multiple boards • LTP is currently the only “real” test • Currently very few boards

  6. Test Lab Demo • Demonstration of running a test in the lab • Web Interface • Requesting a test • Examining test results • Interactive use • ssh and target

  7. What’s next? • Reservation system for interactive use • Need to populate tests specific to CELF requirements • Need more systems - Satellite nodes and the Japan test lab • Need install program and documentation to facilitate use of lab infrastructure • Integration with or leveraging of other Linux automated test systems.

  8. Config Weight Size Test • By Munehiro Ikeda (NEC) • Ikeda will describe overview of his examination to make clear config weights(impacts), which means size and memory usage increase by enabling a config item. • Examination tool named "Kconfig Size“ • Current examination result summary • Further works plan

  9. CABI (CPU Resource Management) • By Mitori Sugaya (Waseda University)

  10. Jamboree Report • By Satoru Ueda • This is a report of presentations and projects from recent CELF regional jamborees in Japan. • see JapanTechnicalJamboreeGuidance • JapanTechnicalJamboree8 • JapanTechnicalJamboree9

  11. Review of CELF members' project list • What OSS projects are CELF members working on? • See ProjectList [Unfortunately, out of date at the moment] • Discuss how to connect these projects back to original OSS projects?

  12. Annual CELF “Challenge” Items • Proposal for creating a list of technology projects for CELF members to focus on for the year • How can CELF push the projects forward and get inter-company collaboration? • Want to make sure to follow Open Source practices, so that non-members can participate and influence the work • Need to make sure people understand it’s not an unfunded request for work!!!

  13. Open Discussion • What projects deserve focused CELF attention?? • Does anyone need hardware that CELF or it's members can provide? • Should we do a "hackfest"?
