  1. Baptism: A Saving Act Part 2 Lesson 9 SMALL CATECHISM What is Baptism? What benefits does God give in Baptism? How can water do such great things? What does Baptism mean for daily living?

  2. How Can Water Do This? It’s NOT the Water. It’s always about THE WORD

  3. Have you ever been asked, “Are you a Born Again Christian?” Usually this question is asked by someone who thinks that infant Baptism is not REAL Baptism. There are some who believe that a person must make a conscience decision to be baptized because the Holy Spirit has come to them. As Lutherans, we believe there is only ONE BAPTISM.

  4. What Does Baptism Mean For Life? Baptism gives me new life. Baptism gives me a new relationship with the world around me. THAT HAS IMPLICATIONS FOR HOW I LIVE!

  5. FOUR IMPLICATIONS Ethical Implication Corporate Implication Eschatological Implication Mission Implication

  6. ETHICAL IMPLICATION Baptism makes a difference in how we live. Because we are “born in Christ” we should want to serve God and obey His will.

  7. CORPORATE IMPLCATION We become a part of GOD’s CHURCH. It doesn’t matter what church we belong to because there is only ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM. CHRIST UNITES US ALL!

  8. ESCHATOLOGICAL IMPLICATION This is a fancy way of saying that we need to be return for the time when Christ returns, as He promised. Believing that truth, it means I should be concerned about where my life is headed.

  9. MISSION IMPLICATION We are commanded by God to spread the good news of Jesus Christ and make disciples. We have a Mission! We are NOT all pastors, but we are ALL ministers. The mission of sharing Christ is for all believers.

  10. Assignment When we are confirmed and take an active role in the church, it means we answer God’s call to share Christ with others. Talk to your parents about ways they share the good news of Jesus Christ with others as ministers in God’s Church. Talk to them about their understanding of what a minister is and what a pastor is. Then write down your thoughts and theirs about these two roles in spreading God’s Word and making disciples. Also share some ways that you will share Christ with others.
