  2. CHARACTERISTICS • There are more than 500 species that have been described in the genus • The genus is large and mostly made up of big trees. • Native to Australia, Tasmania, and islands nearby • “gum trees”

  3. CHARACTERISTICS • Many of the trees form caps and fruit which have tiny seeds in them • They can recover from bushfires quickly • Can be found in more than 90 countries • Grow fast • Eucalyptus oil • The leaves are leathery

  5. WHY SO GREAT?! • They are very economically valuable • The leaves are leathery • Uses: • Building (for termite resistance) • Furniture • Woodchips • Paper • Fuel • Medicine

  6. WHY SO GREAT?! • In Austria the bark is used as fuel • Other parts of the tree are used for buildings and wooden fences also are used for paper and tanning

How to keep it safe! • To protect the plant and growing area of this plant, the soil needs to be very moist because the eucalyptus plant takes up much water. • This plant can also harm many areas it is planted it. • -This is because of how much water it needs to survive. Since it absorbs most of the water from the ground, the other native plants to not have enough water to grow and survive.

How to keep it safe! • Most plants need a certain soil to be able to grow, however, the eucalyptus plant can almost grow in any soil it is planted in. • To protect the development of the plant, it should be planted in sites that are not exposed to wind. If it is exposed to wind and cold temperatures it will not reach its highest potential.

  9. How we shared our work: Our group is presenting our information with each of our classes. Also, we will be putting our project on the internet for anyone to see. When viewing the power point the audience can read what is on the slides and listen to the audio recordings. After we present our power point to our classes, about forty people will have seen the project other than the members of our group. We believe that putting out our project on the internet will attract a lot of viewers. Our project has valid information that will educate the world about the Eucalyptus plant.
