  1. Before Attending MentoringFace-to-Face & Online

  2. Question: When is it too late to start National Boards and get a mentor? • We accept candidates and place them with mentors until the National Board registration closes, February 28.

  3. We recommend the following practice: (1) If you join before Christmas, you have time to complete the entire process in a year (2) If you join after Christmas, we recommend that you complete one component. • Remember YOU have the choice of complete National Boards in 1, 2, or 3 years.

  4. We have a spot in mentoring for YOU; however, since mentoring has already started, we need to catch you up to speed.

  5. Before you attend your first meeting, you need to do the following

  6. Locations of Resources Guide to National Board Certification, Standards, Components, and Timelines are all located in the Candidate’s Toolbox, which is on the WCTP’s homepage: http://wctp.olemiss.edu

  7. WCTP 601 Tour Video and WCTP 601 At-a-Glance are located in WCTP 601

  8. Read “The Guide to National Board Certification”. This explains the process. • Read through the components you plan to complete. • You’ve probably already done both of these!

  9. Standard’s Activity • Print out your standards • Read one standard a night • Highlight anything you don’t do in yellow • Highlight anything that involves technology in green • Purchase a composition notebook. Write down the name of each standard and take notes as you read through the standard. • Your work that you submit is scored based on your ability to effectively integrate the standards!

  10. Complete your process timeline

  11. Familiarize yourself with the suggested timelines

  12. Recap • Read “Guide to National Board Certification” • Read through your components • Complete the standard activity • Complete the process timeline (give to your mentor). Familiarize yourself with suggested semester timelines • Watch the appropriate WCTP 601 video • Print out “Survivor Guide” and “WCTP 601 at a Glance”

  13. Watch the WCTP 601 Tour Video that corresponds with the type of candidate that you are (Face-to-Face or Online) Print out the WCTP 601 At-a-Glance (Blackboard) document Both are located in WCTP 601
