  3. How I Met Your Mother is an American situation comedy (sitcom) that premiered on CBS on September 19, 2005. The main character, Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), in the year 2030 recounts to his son and daughter the events that led to his meeting their mother. The series is narrated through flashbacks from the future. Other main characters are Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), and Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris).

  5. Setting your mind to the episode… Episode 3.06 – “I’m not that guy” Marshall got the job he's always wanted at the Natural Resources Defense Council. However, Lily urges him to keep his interview with the corporate, polluter-defending Nicholson, Hewitt, & West. Why? Because Lily has dozens of credit cards and is very much in debt, owing to always shopping when she is upset. At the same time, Barney has discovered a pornographic movie entitled "Welcome to the Sex Plane" featuring a porn star named Ted Mosby (the same name of the main character). While Ted is at first amused, he then becomes uncomfortable and goes searching for the "Bizarro Ted".

  6. Knowing what the episode/movie/tv show is about, you can expect certain groups of words to appear. This helps a lot when you want to let the addiction to Portuguese subtitles go. By the sinopsis you just read, can you guess the two main subjects in the episode? Discuss in pairs. Now look at these words/expressions and check (in pairs) if you know their meaning.
