Q3: How did Cro-Magnon’s new tools make survival easier? • The right tool for the job always makes life easier! To survive in a harsh environment you must have the knowledge to do so. • Examples: • Hunting unpredictable and dangerous: better weapons like the bow and arrow will help kill prey with greater safety and efficiency. • In cold weather, inventions like the bone needle will help create better clothing for protection from the elements. 2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 4 = 8, the more advanced tools you have the more advanced tools you can make!
Q4: What factors played a role in the origins of agriculture? • Origins = where something comes from. • The Factors: • CLIMATE CHANGE! The earth WARMED up (warming is better than cooling) – The last Ice age ended about 8000 BC. • Warmer Climate allowed for more plant life that fed growing animal herds. • Early hunter gatherer populations began to grow due to increased food supplies. • Population pressure caused a crisis = SOLVE THE FOOD SHORTAGE PROBLEM = Agriculture!

Q7: In what way did Neolithic peoples dramically improve their lives? • Possible Answer: Steady Food Supply & Settled Communities! • Steady food supply allows for a more consistent culture, it is more stable, tomorrow is known, life is good. • Settled Communities = accumulation of more stuff! You no longer have to carry around everything you need – you can accumulate things that make life better – invent more things – better housing – safety – strength in numbers!
