  2. Coding Works Cited Cards Organization is EVERYTHING when it comes to doing effective research, so carefully coded works cited cards and note cards are critical to successful research writing. The top area of the WC Card provides several codes to organize sources and note cards from those sources! WC = Works Cited Card; “A” = 1st resource discovered; No. 1 = first card in note card set! Initials of Title Title of Book or Article ROG Reflections of Grace WC A- 1 [The rest of the card will hold all of the information needed for Works Cited page entries and parenthetical citations for the research paper. All of this is designed to provide accurate research and protection against plagiarism!]

  3. WC Card Coding Practice! On a piece of paper or extra note cards provide the three top codes for WC Cards for the following titles! Remember:Each title will require a new WC letter code while all of them will bear the number 1! Titles: • Why do I love these People? [Book Title] • “Man Up!” [Magazine Article] • “Tea Party Activists Vigilant” [Newspaper Headline] • Voice of the Shuttle [ Web Page Essay] • “Utah Mine Rescue Funeral” [Web Page Article]

You should underline titles on your cards but remember to change it to italics when you type the title. • Newspaper headlines, articles and short stories are always put in quotation marks! • Each WC card is numbered “1.” It is the first card in a set of note cards to follow!
