Day 1: August 29, 2005 • Category 4 storm with 145 mph winds makes second landfall along Gulf Coast near Buras, LA • Eye passes directly over eastern edge of New Orleans • Category 3 storm with 125 mph winds makes third landfall near the Louisiana/Mississippi border • Catastrophic flooding results in 80% of New Orleans

  4. Day 2: August 30, 2005 • Activated 10 person pharmacy logistics team at NDMS warehouse • Prepared 3 International Medical Surgical Response Team (IMSuRT) caches • 280 line items • Prepared 21 Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) go-bags • 50 line items Team Building: Red, Hot, and Blue

Day 3: August 31, 2005 • Completed pharmaceutical re-supply of • Three IMSuRT caches • Completed three DMAT caches (250 line items) • Three IV Fluid pallets • Three pharmaceutical pallets • Completed return order (6 boxes) of expired medications • Completed inventory and organization of pharmaceutical overstock (35 totes) Team Building: Pot Belly

  6. Day 4: September 1, 2005 • Completed re-supply of pharmaceuticals and IV fluids for 3 DMAT caches • Completed re-supply of IV fluids for 3 IMSuRT caches • Completed electronic inventory of • 21 ACLS bags • 3 IMSuRT caches Team Building: Hamburger Hamlet

  7. Day 5: September 2, 2005 • Checked in $80,000 pharmaceutical order • Completed 4 DMAT caches • Four pallets of IV fluids • Four pallets of pharmaceuticals Team Building: China Jade

  8. Day 6: September 3, 2005 • Completed 4 DMAT caches • Four pallets of IV fluids • Four pallets of pharmaceuticals • Completed re-supply of 4 DMAT caches Team Building: None

  9. Day 9: September 6, 2005 • Completed 23 ACLS bags • Completed 4 DMAT caches Team Building: Guapo’s

  10. Day 10: September 7, 2005 • Wrote 4 DMAT cache re-supply orders • Wrote 4 DMAT cache orders • Wrote 23 ACLS bag re-supply orders Team Building: None

  11. Day 11: September 8, 2005 • Completed 4 DMAT cache re-supply orders • Completed 4 DMAT cache orders • Completed 23 ACLS bag re-supply orders Team Building: None

  13. After Action Report • Team integrated well by focusing on mission and task completion • Team building sessions were very complimentary to team dynamics • Safety shoes more practical than oxford shoes in warehouse environment
