  5. Grading • Attendance: 10% • Assignments and in-class participation: 10% • Weekly homework: 10% • Writing assignments: 10% • Quizzes (2): 10% • Speaking exams (2): 20% • Mock TOEIC tests (2): 20%

  6. Attendance Good attendance: • You must attend • You should be on time, in your seat when the class begins (bags do not count). Bad attendance: -1/3% for being late, -1% for being very late -1% for being absent

  7. Assignments and Participation Good participation (high score! ): • Good effort, trying to speak as much as possible, wakefulness, asking questions Bad participation (low score! ): • Sleeping, not speaking, addicted to cell phone, not paying attention

  8. Assignments and Participation You must bring everyday to class: • Your Top Notch 2 book • A notebook • A pen or pencil

  9. Homework Complete all homework assignments before the due dates.

  10. Quizzes Two quizzes 2 or 3 units each vocabulary grammar listening

  11. Writing Assignments TOEIC Writing section, done in class!

  12. Speaking Exams One midterm, one final Midterm: video-based mini-documentary Final: one-to-one speaking exam

  13. Mock TOEIC Tests One midterm, one final Midterm: Must take it before week 7 Final: Must take it before week 15 Mock TOEIC Center in 국제어학원

  14. Academic Honesty All work that you do for this course must be your own. Cheating is unacceptable. Viewing or copying another student’s work, or taking information from a book, website, or other source and presenting it to me as if it is your own is academic dishonesty, and will result in a failing grade.

  15. Study Groups I encourage you to form a study group with your friends and classmates. It will help you A LOT in this class. You can reserve a study room at the Global Zone.

  16. Office Hours My office hours are Friday from 5:00 to 6:00, and my office is located in GILC (국제어학원) room #310. Visit my office hours for assistance with anything that you may want help or advice on, such as course content or an application to an English language program at our university.

  17. Romanization Let’s get your names into the Roman alphabet. But first, let’s get my name into 한글.
