Conflict: • In the book “Speak” a young girl, Melinda, is raped at a party before her freshman year. • She calls the cops and they bust the party. • Melinda refused to tell anyone what had happened. • Everyone is upset with Melinda and they treat her like an outcast. • Melinda relives her rape over and over. • Each time she begins to talk and interact less. • She becomes isolated from everyone else.

Solution: • After becoming almost completely isolated, Melinda faced her rapist. • She realized that talking about her problems was more effective then bottling them up.
