  1. General CNC For Education

  2. Design Software Issues • In discussions with educators across North America we found one consistency, namely, that only a select few students with CAD aptitude • The complexity of many CAD programs is one of the main reasons that this problem exists • Teachers CAD skill level also is a leading factor contributing to a lack of overall success on introducing automation to the wood shop. • The end result is that either schools shy away from teaching CNC automation in the wood shop OR they have existing equipment that is utilized very little or not at all

  3. Easy to Learn Design Software

  4. Easy To Learn Design Software Feature #1 • Free trial • Downloads of the software and on-line tutorials allow students to practice theirs skills at home

  5. Easy To Learn Design Software • Feature #2 • Software uses interfaces and tools familiar to both students and teachers

  6. Easy To Learn Design Software • Feature #3 • Imports and easily • tool paths virtually • any graphic, no • matter • what file • format • used

  7. Easy To Learn Design Software • Feature #4 • Accurate and vivid preview screens allow the student (and teacher) to see the finished • project • before it is cut

  8. Machine Issues • One of the main reasons for machines not being utilized to their fullest capacity in classrooms was a lack of support on the part of the manufacturer • Many manufacturers, while offering smaller format tables for school applications offer little in the way of support to teachers. Their primary focus is larger format tables for industry. • Few manufacturers offer local service and support for the machines they sell since they have not local market presence or service infrastructure.

  9. General CNC Is there a difference?

  10. Machine Issues Feature #1 Sold and Serviced Locally With over 300 dealers across the continent, General has the largest distribution network of CNC technology in North America. The result: Wherever General CNC is sold there is a support infrastructure in place.

  11. Machine Issues Feature #2 Swap Out Service on Electronics Should your CNC router ever experience any electronics problem, General CNC offers a swap out service to minimize downtime

  12. Machine Issues Feature #3 Full Safety Enclosure With Safety Interlock Door This option provides a safe working environment for students, effectively eliminating injury from the rotating tool

  13. Machine Issues Feature #4 Built By General With over 65 years of manufacturing expertise in the woodworking industry, General’s reputation for building quality equipment is unrivalled.

  14. Machine Issues Feature #6 Integrated On-board Computer Unlike many CNC routers, General machines have a built in PC which eliminates all integration issues with the schools computers. This eliminates many problems at start up and makes diagnosing future problems infinitely easier.

  15. Machine Issues Feature #6 Linear Bearing Construction General CNC routers use linear bearing and rails to guide all three axis. This is the best bearings for this type of cutting operation and is usually found in larger, industrial CNC routers.

  16. Machine Issues Feature #7 Easy To Learn Operating Interface Students will learn machine operation in a matter of minutes with our customized screen interface. Very simple and easy to understand functions will have students cutting projects right away.

  17. What’s the next step?

  18. What’s the next step? • Check out the software! www.generalcnc.ca for free trial downloads • Arrange for a demonstration at your local General CNC dealer • Consider adding some of the General CNC features to your tender to insure your school gets a CNC router that will meet your needs for years to come
