  4. Why is the A/G seeing positive growth? • Our beginnings • We are Pentecostal • Indigenous church principles • Missionaries are required to itinerate

  5. From our beginnings, the Assemblies of God has had missions as our main reason for being. The call, in 1914, for the first General Council in Hot Springs, AR listed missions as one of the five reasons to come together.

  6. Empowered by the Spirit “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

  7. Indigenous Church Principles Using Bible Schools for the training of Nationals to plant churches that are: • Self governing • Self supporting • Self propagating • Self missionizing

  8. Our mission is to plant local bodies of believers that will live and grow without dependency on the mother church that sent the missionaries.

  9. Advantages of Itineration • Remind us of the lostness of man • Opportunity to obey Jesus • Report on “What God is doing.” • Enlist prayer partners • Build financial support base • People give to people • Solidify the call / Accountability • Enlist future missionaries

  10. Pray for missionaries: 1. Health and protection 2. Children’s education 3. Family’s spiritual welfare 4. Victory against demonic forces 5. Care and provision when family members are separated 6. Ministry to be effective

  12. We do missions…because… Jesus has commanded it. • Mt 28:18 "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. • 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, • 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

  13. We do missions… because… the need is great. People need the Lord. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

  14. More than 5.9 billion people are spiritually lost. 50 million of them die each year without Christ! That is 8 times the population of the state of Missouri!

  15. We do missions… because…the more we sow the bigger the harvest. “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sowsgenerously will also reap generously.”2 Corinthians 9:6

  16. Consider this! Why should anyone hear the Gospel twice before everyone has heard it once? -Oswald J. Smith
