  3. Tribulation • Tribulation Speculations • “The Tribulation directly concerns Israel and is God’s judgment for long apostasy (abandonment of religious faith) and neglect of the Messiah – Jesus Christ. The Tribulation also affects the whole world because of its ungodliness and ill treatment of the Jews. The first half of these 7 years will probably be a time of prosperity and acceptance of the Antichrist as the great deliverer from economic chaos. But the last half of the period will witness the plagues described in Revelation 15:1-16:21” (ibid., www.ag.org)

  4. Tribulation • Pre-Tribulation Rapture Affirmed • “With the saints removed from the earth, a time of suffering will come upon the whole world. The Tribulation is a period of 7 years, the "70th week" of Daniel (Daniel 9:27). The last half of the Tribulation period is called the Great Tribulation. Pre-Tribulationscholars hold that the Rapture will occur before the beginning of Daniel’s 70th week. . . .The common belief in the Assemblies of God is that pre-tribulation is more accurate [than Mid or Post-Tribulation, sjw]. This view best satisfies the biblical teaching that the Rapture is always imminent–it could happen at any time and will have no immediate warning or announcement (Matthew 24:42-44; Mark 13:33-37)” (ibid., www.ag.org)

  5. The Tribulation “The Tribulation is a period of 7 years, the "70th week" of Daniel (Daniel 9:27)” (www.ag.org) “Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which is determined, is poured out on the desolate.” (Daniel 9:27, NKJV) • doesn’t say 70th week = 7 years • PROBLEM: is the covenant still needing to be confirmed? • we need to rightly divide the word!

  6. “70 Weeks” Assumptions ? 69 WEEKS X 7 DAYS = 483 YEARS 7 WEEKS 62 WEEKS 1 WEEK “Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy” (Dan. 9:24, NKJV) TRIBULATION

  11. Meaning of Daniel 9:24-27 “Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy” (Dan. 9:24, NKJV) • to seal up vision and prophesy (i.e., completed, confirmed) • when? at the confirming of the covenant (v. 27); • to anoint the Most Holy (cf. 13. Daniel 9:24-27 • Was written to explain to some extent of the Lord’s working and to give the righteous remnant of Israel comfort and hope (cf. Rom. 15:4) • Has the Lord’s initial coming, His sacrifice for sin, His New Covenant, and His subsequent destruction of the illegal and apostate Israelite system as central to its theme • Is fulfilled. . .Is not speaking about anything futuristic from our point of view • Should make us appreciate the well-planned and historical working of God in unraveling His plan of pardon for our sins through the Christ
