  2. What is a percent??? • Percent : A ratio of a number to 100. The symbol % is used to indicate that a number is a percent . • Example : 40% is the ratio 40 to 100, or 40 100 • Percents can be written as fractions or decimals

  3. Writing Percents as Fractions • Write 35% as a fraction in simplest form. • 35% = 35 100 = 7 20 • Write the percent as a fraction with a denominator of 100 • Simplify

  7. Writing Percents as Decimals • Write 43% as a decimal. • 43% = 43 100 • = 0.43 • 43% = 43. = 0.43 • Write the percent as a fraction with a denominator of 100. • Write the fraction as a decimal • All you have to do is move the decimal to the LEFT 2 times!
