Drugs can be given either continuously or intermittently by nebulization • Inhaled β2- agonists are the drugs of choice in the treatment of acute severe asthma. • But the duration of action of β2- agonists is short and thus requires frequent administration. • Frequent administration of bronchodilators allows distal deposition with subsequent bronchodilator treatments, providing sustained bronchodilation. Continuous nebulization (5-15 mg/hr)
