Covishield 1. The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is being manufactured locally by the Serum Institute of India, the world's largest vaccine manufacturer. It says it is producing more than 60 million doses a month. 2. The vaccine is made from a weakened version of a common cold virus (known as an adenovirus) from chimpanzees. It has been modified to look more like coronavirus - although it can't cause illness. 3. When the vaccine is injected into a patient, it prompts the immune system to start making antibodies and primes it to attack any coronavirus infection
Covishield 4. The jab is administered in two doses given between four and 12 weeks apart. It can be safely stored at temperatures of 2C to 8C and can easily be delivered in existing health care settings such as doctors' surgeries. 5. Sputnik Vaccine • Developed by Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology in association with Dr Reddy’s. Sputnik V is soon to be available in India. It is estimated that more than 18 million doses will available by August. 3rd phase trials have proved the Russian vaccine to be about 91.6% effective. Sputnik Vaccine 3. Sputnik V vaccine has been given emergency use authorization in India. In India, the Russian vaccine will be produced by Dr Reddy’s Laboratories. A recent study found no strong allergies caused by Sputnik V. 4. India will produce 850 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine every year. 5. In terms of efficacy, Sputnik V outshines both Covishield and covaxine with 91.6 % effectiveness compared to Covishield’s nearly 90% (global reports) and Covaxin’s 81% (interim 3rd phase trial results).
