Dr Gerald Sacks Explains How Taking Opioid for Extended Periods of Time is Changing Who You Are Dr Gerald Sacks believes that patients continue to take these medications far beyond the period of which time that their pain was occurring. He further explains “I think that it’s unusual when somebody needs surgical post-operative pain management for four weeks.” He educates the patient and even the practitioner about the appropriate treatment for OIC. He advises his patients about utilizing over-the-counter medications, lifestyle changes, increased hydration, increased intake of fruit and vegetables, and the appropriate usage of peripherally acting µ-opioid receptor antagonists.
His Role as an Anesthesiologist in Santa Monica Dr Sacks ensures patients are free of pain before (pre-op), during, and after (post-op) a surgical procedure. By administering anesthesia, Dr Sacks ensures that patients do not feel the pain of a surgical procedure. He creates customized pain management plans for patients that may include therapy, medication management, or minimally invasive procedures. When creating a customized pain management plan, Dr. Sacks will evaluate the patient and their medical history, in addition to performing tests to arrive at a precise diagnosis.
Regarding His Education Accreditations Dr Gerald Sacks completed his Medical School at University of Massachusetts Medical School. Following his education, he was board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
