  2. Educational Accreditations of Dr Gerald M Sacks Dr Gerald M Sacks is the Director of Pain Management at the Pain Institute of Santa Monica. He received his medical degree from University of Massachusetts Medical School and has been in practice for 34 years. He completed a fellowship in pain management at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Dr Sacks has lectured nationally and internationally on pain management, and has served as an invited speaker at many CME and grand round presentations through the United States.

  4. He Explains About Medications Used to Treat OIC Dr Gerald Sacks states that Naloxegol, a peripherally acting µ-opioid receptor antagonist, is used to treat OIC. It can be an effective treatment for opioid-induced constipation. Although it is an appropriate choice for some patients, it can also be an appropriate choice for patients who are taking medications that are metabolized through the same cytochrome P450 metabolic steps in the liver.
