Project key figures • Reference: 297261 • Funded under ICT Policy Support Programme, as part of Competitiveness and Innovation framework Programme (CIP) • Start: 1 January 2012 • 4.000.000 EUR maximum Community contribution (80%) • 656 PM planned • Duration: 36 months, 3 reporting periods • Contract is in the process of being signed • Total of 34 Deliverables and 35 Milestones

Europeana Awareness • In line with Strategic Plan: & • Project Objectives: Raise awareness of Europeana and promote its use among a broad public for a variety of key purposes including: • Lifelong learning • Genealogy • Cultural tourism • Leisure • To further encourage cultural institutions to continue to provide content

Levels of approach • ‘Top Down’ – engaging politicians and policy makers, to encourage support for contributing cultural heritage organisations and an awareness of cultural heritage as an economic driver as well as promoting knowledge transfer of systems, data and policies • ‘Grassroots’ engaging the user in Europeana and cultural heritage via user participation, user generation of content, digital stories and social networking PR Campaigns

WP 1: Public Media CampaignsProvincie Limburg – Erfgoedplus.be • Eén PR campagne 3 à 6 weken in elke lidstaat (27) • Gekoppeld aan een relevante gebeurtenis in elk land • Campagnes gespreid over de 3 jaar van het project • Uitgevoerd door PR agentschap onder coördinatie van Europeana Office en de partner voor het land (2 MM) • Voor België nog niet afgesproken wanneer • Voorstel: Erfgoeddag of Open Monumenten Dag • 3 grote Europeana gebeurtenissen in 2012: • Brussel - 9 mei: Ministeriële Vergadering met groot media event (gastvrouw Neelie Kroes) • Leuven - 13-15 juni: Europeana Plenary • Brussel - 21-22 juni: 1st Digital Assembly meeting (2000 digital policy makers)

WP 2: End User Engagement In Flanders Fields Museum • Toepassing (widget) maken om UGC (user generated content) toe te voegen in Europeana – ‘Digital Story Telling Platform’ • ‘Participation days’ rond 2 thema’s • World War I – 1914-1918 • The Fall of the Iron Curtain • Vervolg van projecten van Oxford (The Great War Archive) en Duitsland (Erster Weltkrieg in Alltagsdokumenten) • Voorbeeld ‘participation days’ in Trento en Ieper • Daarna toegepast in andere plaatsen • Plan voor thema 2 zal gemaakt worden tijdens Plenaire Vergadering in mei
