  13. Case Study • To compare the cost of the copper and fiber based access network. • A 2400 unit green field township is selected for the exercise.

  14. Total Cost of Ownership TCO Assumptions: 1- 2400 user. 2- Fully loaded system from day one. 3- Common costs are not included (Duct). 4- Physical for ATM & IP is based on blown fiber. 5- Triple play services to all customers.

  15. Conclusions • Based on the current prices IP fiber based solution is nearly the same as ADSL copper. • Un like ATM & ADSL, IP prices tendency to go down by higher margin. • IP is the future technology providing cost effective and flexible network.

  16. Development Activities • ATM fiber based solution trial currently under review. • Triple play IP fiber based solution on MPLS demo currently in progress. • Blown fiber technology trial completed successfully.
