  9. Standards-Based Report Cards • This year, all 3rd grade classrooms in Coppell will continue to use Standard-Based Report Cards just as they did in prior grade levels. • A standards-based report card uses grading practices that support student learning. • Grading Codes: • MS- mastered standards • AS- approaching standards • IPS- insufficient progress on standards • N/A- not assessed at this time

  10. Grading Beliefs • Grades are based on the Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills, on the CISD Standards-Based Report Card, and on District Assessments. • Grades should reflect growth and progress. • Formative and summative assessments (classwork, projects, performance tasks) will be utilized to determine mastery, approaching mastery or insufficient progress. • This will provide multiple opportunities to demonstrate the learner’s achievement.

  11. Grading Beliefs • In order to monitor progress of struggling learners, we will provide small group instruction, in class as well as before school tutoring. • We will be in contact with parents as well as our RtI committee to work as a team.

  12. Homework • Homework is an enrichment tool to practice and extend the learning experience. • Homework will consist of both math and reading. • The purpose of our homework is to reinforce skills, teach responsibility, and build confidence.

  13. Homework • Math homework will be a reflective piece over what has been taught the previous week. • Reading homework will build fluency and increase comprehension skills. • Homework will not be used for grades but to reinforce skills.
