  2. Duke Ellington • Duke Ellington was a AMAZING jazz player he played the Trumpet and the Piano Cool !

  3. Duke Ellington • Duke became well known from his music. • April 29, 1899 is when Duke Ellington was born. • May 24, 1974 is when he died.

  4. Duke Ellington • Ellington took piano lessons around seven years old. • But he was interested in baseball too . • Some times Teddy Roosevelt road by on his horse and would stop and watch for a while.

  5. Duke Ellington • Duke Ellington became one of the most famous jazz musicians in the world. • He was known for his silky, elegant, fluid sounds. • What an amazing jazz player.

  6. The Band Both of Duke Ellington parents played the piano, his mother read it by note . And his father by ear. Duke Ellington began taking piano lessons at the age of seven. Studying with a local piano teacher. Unofficially he was guided by pianists Oliver Doc Perry, Louis Brown, and Louis Thomas. Piano was not his recognized talent initially he leaned to drawing and painting. The other interest was baseball seeing it played.

  7. Duke Ellington • Duke played an amazing piano. People loved it! • Even though Duke Ellington was black and all the other jazz and blues musicians like Louis Armstrong, and Bessie Smith.
