  5. The title The first name of this novel was “strangers from within", so all the publishers refused to publish it. One of the publishers accepted it if the name was changed and the first chapter was omitted. William did and its name became “Lord of The Flies.” However , the title still has a negative connotation.

The last boys to appear are the choirboys, led by Jack Merridew. the boys decide they need a chief and elect Ralph. However , Jack become the leader-ship of hunter. Jack, Ralph, and Simon go to explore the island and find a pig trapped in vines. Jack draws his knife, but is unable to actually kill the pig. They vow, however, to kill the pig the next time

  8. Jack Jack begins with a display of savage behavior that progresses as the book goes along. He was the leader of his choir group, who eventually become hunters. He loses his touch with society and overtakes Ralph’s position as chief.

  9. Pigge Piggy is the character that represents order. He struggles to fit in with the other boys, because he is the only one who truly wants order. His glasses play a significant role .They are used to make fires and show his clear view of how this society should be.

  10. Simon The sensitive boy; he represents goodness and self-sacrifice for the benefit of the group.

  11. Chapter 1 • A number of British schoolboys, whose plane has been shot down during wartime, findthemselves marooned on an unidentified island. • After all the boys convene, responding to the sound of a conch shell used as a horn, Ralph, at twelve years old one of the older boys, is voted chief of the group. • Jack Merridew, the leader of the group of choirboys, tries to assume leadership, but is put in charge of his boys. • He decides they’ll be the hunters for the entire group.

His torture can also be considered a lack of understanding, because the boys had likely never met anyone with problems like his. This can be seen in the boy’s lack of understanding of asthma. They never give Piggy a chance. The main conflict is between Jack and Ralph. Jack is the leader of his school choir and he wants to be the one to lead the boys on the island. Ralph is the one who ends up getting chosen for the chief and Jack is not happy. Jack tries to obtain back his reputation by going hunting and trying to kill a pig.
