  4. What is a limerick? • Line 1 usually introduces the character. • Lines 1, 2 & 5 rhyme with each other. • Lines 3 and 4 also rhyme .

  6. Edward Lear • Born May 12, 1812 • Died January 29, 1888 • Lear was an English artist, illustrator, author, and poet. • He is renowned today primarily for his literary nonsense, in poetry and prose, and especially his limericks, a form that he popularized.
