THE AUTHOR: DANIEL • In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel… Daniel 8:1 (9:1, 10:2, 11:2, 12:4) • And the word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, when a land sins against me by acting faithlessly, and I stretch out my hand against it and break its supply of bread and send famine upon it, and cut off from it man and beast, even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver but their own lives by their righteousness, declares the Lord GOD. Ezekiel 14:12-14 • “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand)Matthew 24:15

  8. WHO IS GOD? Set forth your case, says the LORD; bring your proofs, says the King of Jacob. Let them bring them, and tell us what is to happen. Tell us the former things, what they are, that we may consider them, that we may know their outcome; or declare to us the things to come. Tell us what is to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods; do good, or do harm, that we may be dismayed and terrified. Behold, you are nothing, and your work is less than nothing; an abomination is he who chooses you. Isaiah 41:21-24

WHAT IS THE BIBLE? • A story book? • An ethics book? • The Bible: God’s Word, inerrant, infallible, absolute, objective, propositional, eternal, sufficient, complete, final authority, clear • All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3: 16-17

  11. WHO IS GOD? • A myth • An impersonal it • God is One, Triune, Holy, Creator, Sustainer, Sovereign, Infinite, Self-sufficient, Eternal, Infallible, Immutable, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Transcendent, Immanent, Loving, Merciful, Gracious, Just, Faithful, Trustworthy

FACTS FROM DANIEL • Daniel was sent to live in an ungodly nation when it seemed God was defeated. • Daniel and his friends were under pressure to conform to the nation. • Babylon did not acknowledge God • The ungodly seemed to be winning. • God told Daniel that He was still in control and His plans and purposes have been, are, and will be accomplished.

QUESTION & ANSWER • “How can we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land” Psalm 137:4 • Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.” Revelation 11:15
