  2. St. Mark’s Catholic School • Mixed Secondary • 55% EAL • 87% A*-C Inc (96%) • 1150 Students (11-18)

  3. Current Situation • Fronter introduced 2007 • Gained ICT mark in 2009 • Current focus = pupils as leaders of fronter • Average 80% hit rate per month (2011) 55 Staff and 950 unique users per month

  4. Where did we start? All Wrong! (just started by uploading resources – what's the point?) Lack of engagement – both sides Complicated system Focused on the wrong areas Time to rethink!

  5. Discussion time – Barriers or Success? What barriers if any do you currently have in using and implementing fronter in the school? What has worked well when using fronter?

  8. A digital native! I cant read yet or write but I know how to use the ipad! “But why cant I play on the ipad Mummy?!” “But why isn't it on now? I don’t understand” I want it now! ‘Any time any where’ generation.

  9. Future Occupations New jobs appearing – “Identity manager“ and “virtual builder” Google -Looking for “Googleness” -Value talent and intelligence, group spirit and diversity, creativity and idealism -Googlers range from former neurosurgeons and puzzle champions to alligator wrestlers and Lego maniacs -Application = “Tell us what makes you unique”

  10. Focus – Teaching and Learning What do we want our pupils to be able to do? And why? If I had an online area for my pupils - what would it look like? ? How can this support teaching and learning - in my clasroom?

INSET Days • Started with 3 INSET days on how to use Fronter • What is it? • What do we do with it? • How will it benefit our students? • How do we use it? • Developed the Top 10 and ran a Top 10 INSET day • Guiding staff through the Top 10 • Staff had time in departments to discuss how to implement

  26. After-School E-learning Taster Sessions • Weekly sessions on a variety of subjects • Fronter tools • E-mail • Microsoft Office • Podcasting • St. Mark’s Tube • Interactive white boards • Video editing
