Passatoprossimo is a “compound tense” (consists of two words, components) 1. the auxiliary verb 2. the past participle • two possibilities: • avere • (most cases, all transitive verbs) • essere • (mostly movement) • GENERAL RULE • -are -> -ato • -ere -> -uto • -ire -> -ito but there are IRREGULARS
