  5. September 4th, 2014 • Writer’s Notebook: • Today is Therapeutic Thursday! This is a weekly tradition by which we celebrate the approaching weekend by writing about whatever we want! You may choose to write about whatever is on your mind (no profanity and keep it “PG”). Just be sure to write in full sentences (no repeating one word or phrase over and over) and make it a 1/2 a page.

If you do not have a book you may borrow one from my shelf or go to the library (come ask me ASAP). • *As you read, a list will be circulating. Please write down the book you are reading and will be using for your project. Also write down which project you are choosing to complete for this nine weeks.

  10. September 10th, 2014 • Writer’s Notebook: • Identify the verb phrases in each of the following sentences. Do not write the whole sentence. Just write down the verb phrase and label each verb as “L” for “Linking”, “A” for “Action”, or “H” for helping. • Poodles can be excellent pets. • Albert was being gentle with the newborn kittens. • The sharp knife is the one on the counter. • Paul has not always acted so strangely. • I have seldom seen a more moving performance. • Did anyone call for me? • When will the show start? • If Jeff feels sick, he should stay home. • The soup tastes a little bland. • We must look for a birthday card after school.

Finally, is reading important after you get out of high school? Explain why or why not.

  24. September 29th, 2014 (1st Block Only) • Get out a half sheet of paper for the reading quiz over the Fahrenheit 451 reading you did this weekend.

  25. September 29th, 2014 (3rd, 4th, 5th ) • No New Vocab! • I am giving you an extra week to study for your Mega Roots Quiz with all 6 of the lists we have done so far. Get out all of your root word lists and we will do a vocab review game for the first 10 minutes of class.
