  2. Background • UCLA needs to improve its administrative and academic operations efficiency • UCLA community members need an inexpensive and simple-to-use web content and collaboration hosting solution • The Campus Services Portal needs a major technology refresh • There is an opportunity!

  3. Scope • Web content and collaboration hosting platform for administrative and academic groups • Web Content & Consulting Services • Campus Service Portal to move onto this platform

  4. Project Team • AIS to host core infrastructure and provide Administration content management • OIT to provide research, academicand custom web development & consulting • University Communications to lead UCLA Web Branding and Visual Identity

  5. Project Mission Provide a high quality, cost efficient, and market competitiveweb content management and hosting service for the UCLA community.

  6. Commitment • The services should be price-competitive. • The tools should be easy to use. • The technology should be accessible and standards-compliant. • The service will commit to a regular vettingprocess. Functionality improvements will be driven from ongoing campus feedback.

  7. Roadmap Service Go Live! Fall 2011 Planning & Prototype Migrate existing Campus Service Portal (i.e., Vignette Portal) content onto Web CMS platform; Move first RCE sites to new hosting environment; Technology Implementation Service Model Study;Staffing;Outreach;Cost Model Development; Service Pricing vetted;Technology Evaluation; Portal Migration & host first sites Design technical architecture;Develop information architecture; Branding and Visual Identity design; System set up and testing; Integration development; Stabilization & Enhancements Fall 10-11 2011 2012

  8. Status • Vetted project with CSG in late 2010 • Administration to fund one time development cost • Forming focus group with CSG and Portal Board members to refine requirements and service catalog • Prototyping technology
