  1. God Loves His Children

  2. “The God of love” continually demonstrates unfailing love for His children.

  3. “God is Love.” • God is the ultimate source of love.

  4. 1 John 4:7-8 (NASB) Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

  5. The greatness of God’s love was demonstrated in the giving of His Son.

  6. 1 John 4:9-11 (NASB) 9 By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

  7. “The God of Love” is with His Children. • God loves all people in the world (Mat. 5:44-45; John 3:16).

  8. God’s love is especially demonstrated towards His children, specificallythe people who love His Son, believe in Him, and obey Him (Christians).

  9. Galatians 3:26-27 (KJV) 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. – cf. Eph. 2:1-3

  10. John 14:21 (NASB) "He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me; and he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and will disclose Myself to him."

  11. John 14:23 (NASB) Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him.

  12. John 16:27 (NASB) for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father.

  13. Proverbs 8:17 (NASB) "I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.

  14. Proverbs 15:9 (NASB) The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD,

  15. There is a loving fellowship between God and His children that the world simply does not have!

  16. 2 Corinthians 13:11, 14 (NASB) 11 Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you… 14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

  17. God’s love for His children is unfailing and everlasting (1 John 4:8; cf. 1 Cor. 13:8a).

  18. Jeremiah 31:3 (NLT) Long ago the LORD said to Israel: "I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.

  19. The Love of God is Demonstrated by What He Has Done for Christians. • God makes us “alive again” by granting to all spiritual blessings in Christ.

  20. Ephesians 2:4-7 (NASB) 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

  21. Ephesians 1:3 (KJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. - cf. Eph 1:7; Rev. 1:5; 1 John 4:10; 1 Cor. 5:7; 2 Cor. 5:17; Rom. 6:4; Heb. 7:25; etc.

  22. God’s love is seen by allowing Christians to also be called His children.

  23. Romans 8:14-17 (NASB) 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.

  24. 1 John 3:1 (NASB) See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

  25. The love of God for His children is evident as He provides and cares for, watches over and protects His children.

  26. Matthew 6:33 (NASB) 33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

  27. 1 Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

  28. 1 Peter 2:25 (NASB) For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

  29. Psalm 121:1-3 (NASB) 1 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From whence shall my help come? 2 My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.

  30. 2 Thessalonians 3:3-5 (NASB) 3 But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command. 5 And may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.

  31. Only the children of God receive the Father’s love in the form of corrective discipline.

  32. Hebrews 12:5-6 (NASB) 5 and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, Nor faint when you are reproved by Him; 6 For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, And He scourges every son whom He receives.

  33. Hebrews 12:7-8 (NASB) 7 It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

  34. Hebrews 12:9-10 (NASB) 9 Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, that we may share His holiness.

  35. Hebrews 12:11 (NASB) All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. – cf. Rev 3:19; 2 Tim 3:16 & 1 Pet. 1:6-7; James 1:2-4

  36. God’s love is seen in His providence by causing all things to work together for our good as we continue to love Him.

  37. Romans 8:28 (NASB) And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

  38. His love comforts and strengthens the hearts of His children by giving them the “good hope” of eternal life.

  39. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NASB) 16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, 17 comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.

  40. There is Nothing in This Life That Can Ever Take Away the Love of God from His Children.

  41. Romans 8:31-32 (NASB) 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

  42. Romans 8:33-34 (NASB) 33 Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

  43. Romans 8:35-36 (NASB) 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written,"For Thy sake we are being put to death all day long; We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered."

  44. Romans 8:37 (NASB) 37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

  45. Romans 8:38-39 (NASB) 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
