  5. Primary Objectives • 4 Police Organizations – Mesa, Irving, Ventura, Charleston • Implement and document the DSS process • Complete one or two projects in the department addressing critical issues • Present the project results at PERF’s annual meeting April 2008

  7. Motorola Quality Systems & Processes Motorola provided: • Two-day on-site DSS training for Chief’s and their Staff • One week of specialized “Green Belt” training for 2 members of organization • Ongoing technical assistance from Motorola

Motorola Quality Systems & Processes Implementing And Utilizing Six Sigma Methodologies Can Improve Organizational Execution And Sustain Results Through: • Focusing the Organization on the Vital Few • Aligning Front Line Activities with the Vital Few • Leveraging Digitization & Six Sigma to Achieve Rapid & Sustainable Improvements on the Vital Few

Organization’s Schematic Fighting Part 1 Crimes Top priorities as a Big Y End of 2006 Crime Rate (51 per 1000)Crime Rate Reduction by 15% (to 43 per 1000 residents) Goals/Initiatives as Vital X Person Crimes 9% Impact on Crime Rate Property Crimes 91% Impact on Crime Rate 67% 0.2% Minimize the number of Burglaries 15% Programs to reduce vehicle thefts 17% Minimize the number Larceny/Theft Programs for Preventing Arson • Promote Community involvement • Business and residential programs • Prohibit the use of unauthorized vehicles for emergency response • Utilize Lojack to locate vehicles • Program to Include companies taking a more active role • Alter business practices of targeted businesses • Work with Fire Dept. to help educate the community in the safety processes

Project Team Resource Commitment: • Project Coordinator's who will be responsible for overseeing and driving all aspects of this project • 20 senior staff members to learn about the DSS methodologies and support the efforts of DSS • 2 staff members to understand various processes to carry it forward - Green Belt training • Team support for completion of DSS projects

  19. Customer DSS Program Results • 4 Police Organizations – Mesa, Irving, Ventura, Charleston • Implemented and documented the DSS process • All are completing one or two projects in the department addressing critical issues • Presenting the project results at PERF’s annual meeting
