PreAward Pre-submission Support Available • Guidance for sources of funding • Coordination of/liaison with various institutional support committees • Correct interpretation/use of sponsor guidelines • Consultation on budget preparation • Review standard form (administrative) pages for completeness and accuracy • Assure proper research committee authorizations • Secure proper university authorizations • Internal routing through University • Check for completeness and monitor assembly of proposals • Copy and arrange for mailing of proposals • Assist with electronic submissions

17. Proposal Submission Timeline Five (5) business days prior to submission deadline RSP must receive: • The final budget (both requested and cost share), budget justification, and abstract Two (2) business days prior to the submission deadline: • The complete proposal ready for submission is due at RSP These guidelines will allow for the internal routing procedure to take place; provide for a proper review of the proposal before submission; and allow time for any necessary changes that may need to take place prior to submission or corrections after submission required by an electronic submission system.

Post Award Administration • Assigns a WSU Banner fund number for project • Assists the PI in the orderly administration of the project • Notifies PI of due dates for technical reports required by sponsor • Acts as liaison between sponsor and PI regarding award modifications • Prepares and submits fiscal reports

Internal Grants Research Initiation Grants • Purpose: To provide seed funding for new research efforts to attract external funding • Eligibility: Fully-affiliated faculty (other than Boonshoft School of Medicine) • Maximum award: $20,000 • Annual Spring semester competition FY14: 28 submissions, 4 awards for $59,100

Internal Grants Professional Development Grants • Purpose: To provide seed funding for more general, diverse scholarly activities • Eligibility: Fully-affiliated faculty (other than Boonshoft School of Medicine) • Maximum award: $3,000 • Annual Spring semester competition FY14: 18 submissions, 9 awards for $17,300
