  1. Changes for 2012-13 School Year LakeView Technology Academy March 21, 2012 7pm

Changes for next year… • All high schools in KUSD are moving from a 4 Block day to an 8 Block day, including LakeView • All students will begin the day at LakeView at 7:25 am • There will still be a shuttle from each boundary school to LakeView before school begins each morning • The shuttle to LakeView AFTER 1st Block has been eliminated • All students will take classes Blocks 1-6 at LakeView • All students will board the bus at 1:45 back to their boundary school. • All students will have the opportunity to take their 8th Block class at their boundary school.

Other information to consider… • During 8th Block students will have the opportunity to take seminar, music, art, foreign languages, physical education, health and other courses not offered at LTA • There is still a 7 credit cap limit on the number of credits a student can take per school year. • Summer school is NOT included in the 7 credit cap limit • eSchool courses taken during the school year are counted as part of the credit limit • Students at the other high schools must take a seminar or release within their schedule • With LakeView’snew time schedule, the seminar/release block will be used for AAA and travel time to boundary schools

Other information to consider… • Some of our classes will be single block (all year for 48 minutes) and others will be double block (half year for 96 minutes) • Most likely students will have 5 or 6 different classes each semester, not 8 • Students will need to pre-register for their eSchool courses for the 2012-13 school year. The form is on their website. • Students with early release (grades 11 & 12) will be allowed to leave at 1:10 unless they are required to attend AAA. • Students in grades 9 & 10 who do not select a course for their 8th block will be assigned a seminar at their boundary school.

  6. Other Topics of Importance • After School Activities • Bowling - no change • Dodge Ball 3:30 to 4:45 • Robotics/ROV/HMV - during and after school • Year Book - during and after school • More Face-to-Face Teaching 333 minutes per day vs. 315 minutes per day on average • Information Technology Explore Track for Seniors will not be offered • Average class size increase from 23 to 26 with a range from 24 to 35 (54 non-lab classes vs. 51 lab classes)

Other Topics of Importance (continued) • No Study Hall/Seminars at LTA • On-line learning experience begins with the class of 2016 or the new freshmen • World Languages Tremper- Spanish and French Bradford- Spanish and Italian Indian Trail- Spanish and Chinese eSchool- Spanish and German • Block 8 schedules at Bradford, Tremper, and Indian Trail are not ready at this time
