  1. IRIS-GRIMS Updates Lilibeth M. Sison Grace Lee S. Capilit Nelia Resurreccion TTC GRC

  2. IRIS-Genetic Resources Information Management System (IRIS-GRIMS) • Manages genetic resources information for the IRRI genebank • Being developed to follow (and improve) the functionalities of the genebank’s old system IRGCIS • Development of new functions for additional needs/requirements • Uses ICIS tables, where possible • Database is Oracle (migrating to PostgreSQL) • GUI was developed in Borland Delphi

  3. IRIS-GRIMS Modules System Administration Seed Management Seed Characterization Seed Acquisition Seed Multiplication • Involves management of reference tables used by the system • Involves monitoring of the movement of seeds to and from the genebank • Involves management of all information given by the donor (passport and collection information), initial seed increase, assignment of IRGC accession number and designation of MLS/FAO dates • Involves management of processes related to seed rejuvenation and replenishment of samples in the genebank • Involves management of morphological and agronomic traits of samples stored in the genebank

  4. Tasks for GRC* • ICIS Database Structure • Review ICIS GMS schema tables relating to genetic resources (IRGCIS) conversion LISTNMS,EVENTMEM/PROJECT/PERSONLIST • ICIS database access • Status of GRIMS Backend conversion of Oracle to PostgreSQL • Some issues encountered during conversion • ICIS implementations and conversion • Rice Registry - (IRRI/CIAT/WARDA/IITA/GRIN) GPG2 cross referencing of rice germplasm, data loading • Scanned Collecting Mission documents • Enhancement of GRIMS - Location, People, Institute *Taken from 2010 Future Planning,ICIS Workshop, Perth Australia

  5. ICIS database access • Status of GRIMS Backend conversion of Oracle to PostgreSQL • Specs : PostgreSQL 8.4 on Debian Linux and Ubuntu (development); PostgreSQL 8.4(?) on Centos (production) • Consultant has successfully migrated all objects (tables, views, functions, triggers, sequences) in 4 weeks • Scheduled back-up scripts are in place • Backup and recovery procedures are provided to ITS, in addition to their disaster recovery plan • Currently on the second phase of system testing for GRIMS and ICIS applications (Browse, Setgen, GMSSrch,ICIS Lite)

  6. ICIS database access – cont’d • Some issues encountered during conversion • Datatype conversion • ICIS32.dll problem • Oracle and Postgresql with similar function but with different parameters • Some built-in variables and functions are different in Postgresql • Postgresql not allowing default parameters in function declaration • ODBC driver version of PostgreSQL

  7. Rice Registry – on Setgen

  8. Rice Registry – on IRIS web

  9. Neighborhood

  10. Scanned Collecting Mission documents

  11. Use of REFLINKS and BIBREF in scanned Collecting Mission documents

  12. Displaying Collecting Mission documents on IRIS web

  13. Browsing Collecting Mission lists

  14. Enhancement of GRIMS - Location, People, Institute • Data from GRIMS are now uploaded in Central IRIS tables  PERSONS, INSTITUT and ADDRESS • On-going curation of address type, institute type and person roles for these uploaded data • Data entry for these tables are currently under development in GRIMS • PERSONS, INSTITUT and ADDRESS will be used as reference tables for Incoming (sender, donor, collector, etc.) and Seed Distribution (requestor, recipient)

  15. GRIMS – data entry forms

  16. Seed Distribution Old form New form
