What do I need to know about the new schedule? McFarland High School Web Page: http://www.mcfarland.k12.wi.us/mhs/index.php • Every day is an A Day or a B Day • Classes meet every other day • Classes are 95 minutes on M – TH – F and 80 minutes on Tuesday & Wednesday • On Tue. And Wed. there is a 50 minute Resource period How do I know if it’s an A or B day?

Preparation • When are some times you need to be prepared? • (Brainstorm)
Preparation: Be on time! • MHS Tardy Policy • The first bell rings at 7:45 a.m. and school starts at 7:55 a.m. • Students are expected to arrive on time and be ready for every class before the late bell rings • If you are late to class three times, expect a consequence from your teacher. • If you are tardy more than three times, expect a detention after school. • If you are habitually tardy or absent without an excuse there are more serious consequences including fines and/or truancy court. • The bottom line: Please be in class, on time, every day. If you are going to be absent, please have a parent/guardian call the main office. If you are going to be tardy, please have a pass from a staff member. MHS ATTENDANCE LINE 838-4500 Ext. 1
Respect • How do you show RESPECT at MHS? • (Brainstorm)
Respect: No hats or headgear to be worn in the building(That includes hats, caps, hoods, bandannas, and sunglasses)
Integrity • What does Integrity mean? • (Brainstorm) in·teg·ri·ty (inˈtegritē) n. adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.
Integrity: School Dress Code • Shirts must have two shoulder straps and not be revealing • Pants and shorts should not be inappropriately low-waisted that they reveal undergarments or “butt-cracks”. • No revealing shorts or skirts of inappropriate length.
Integrity: Cell Phones/Electronic devices • Respect your teacher’s cell phone policy • During school hours cell-phones/electronic devices should be silenced • Typically cell phones/electronic devices should not be visible • If you are asked to put your phone/device away, please do so immediately and with Integrity • Inappropriate phone use may result in confiscation by the teacher or administrator

Acknowledging Positive Behaviors • At MHS we believe in acknowledging positive behavior and showing appreciation when you do the right thing!
What do acknowledgements look like? • A simple “thank you” • Positive Behavior Referrals mailed home • Recognition at assemblies • Class-wide celebrations • VIP Extended Lunch (Very Impressive PRIDE) • All students without tardy referrals for the month will be eligible for the VIP drawing. 10 students will be chosen allowing them to attend a 50 minute lunch period with a guest of their choice • Scratch off tickets! • turn in your tickets to Mrs. Lowery at the front desk to be eligible for End of Quarter prizes • 1st quarter prizes - 1 per grade level • $50 Buffalo Wild Wings Gift Card • $50 iTunes Gift Card • $50 Target Gift Card • $50 Spartan Headquarters Gift Card
