  2. Pollution • There are many different types of pollution • Our project focused on land pollution • Land Pollution is when the earth’s land and soil is contaminated with waste • Land can be polluted by: • Pesticides • Litter • Ashes • Paint

  3. Land Pollution Dangers • It can affect wildlife, plants, and humans • Can cause life-threatening illnesses • May harm the respiratory system on animals and humans • Produces problems on skin • Leads to birth defects • Can cause some types of cancers

  4. Stopping Land Pollution • People need to know about how littering is harmful • Litter should be thrown into trash cans • Organic waste from farms should be disposed away form residential areas • Items such as paper, plastic, glass and metals should be recycled

  5. Our Goal • We wanted to teach younger kids about pollution • We also wanted to teach them about recycling and what to recycle • We wanted to be able teach them in a way that would be friendly to younger kids • We predicted that more people would recycle if they knew how, why, and what to recycle

  6. Project-The Book • We decided to write a children's book • We used two main characters, to make it more appealing to young children • Polly Pollution, the villain • Michael Recycle, the hero • We also made the lines rhyme so kids would like it, and so it would flow
