  3. Appearance • Spectacled bears have shaggy fur with yellowish rings around their eyes. They are black, brown, dark and small. Spectacled bears can be a little reddish.

  4. Habitat • They have been found in rain forests, steppe lands, mountainous regions and coastal desserts. Spectacled bears live in South America.

  5. Food • They eat fruit, berries, cacti, small rodents, birds, insects, small cows and honey. Spectacled bears are mostly vegetarian.

  6. Young • Females usually give birth to one or two small helpless cubs. Cubs stay with their mother for eight months. They ride on their mother’s back.

  7. Interesting Facts • They can grow to be 5 to 6 feet or 1.5 to 1.8 m in height. They have extremely strong jaws. Spectacled bear’s face, neck and chest marking are unique like human finger prints.
