  2. Introducing • CZELO is project based (grant from EUPRO I and II programme of the Czech MEYS) • established in Brussels in 2005 • implemented by Technology Centre ASCR (NCPs + Strategic studies = project CZERA, EEN) • CZELO3 (2013 – 2016)

  3. Introducing • free of charge services to anybody interested in European and international RTDI cooperation • focus alsoon higher education, innovation,entrepreneurship • new website structured thematically to H2020 • electronic CZELO Bulletin in English

  4. Introducing • CZELO brochure (in Czech) – 24 pages

Introducing • Brochure on new generation of EU programmes and initiatives (in Czech) – CZELO + CEBRE (in June 2014) • CZELO Conference „Water research for Agriculture“, 10 June 2014 in Brussels • 8th Czech Street Party – CZELO stand (interactive quiz on alternative food), 13 June 2014 in Brussels

  6. Brussels stakeholders • intensive RTDI environment • F2F contacts with experts • close and active cooperation of RTDI and higher education offices • growing number of new RTDI initiatives with seat in Brussels

  7. IGLO (1) Informal Group of Liaison Offices • 24 offices (SLORD being the newest) • representing a country or other national body

  8. IGLO (2) • information sharing, partner search, joint events, bilateral consultative meetings, promotion of Czech capabilities • 8 working groups – CZELO co-chairs two of them (INCO, FP Implementation) • ERA-in-Action (active involvement of national experts)

EU Institutions (1) • EU institutions (Council of the EU, European Parliament, European Commission: EC Directorates General – most important) • DG RTD (Research and Innovation): policy and strategy planning, horizontal issues • DG CONNECT (Communication Networks, Content and Technology): ICT, FET

  10. EU Institutions (2) • Other DGs (MOVE, ENVI, CLIMA, ENTR, ENER … + EAC, REGIO) • Executive Agencies managing EU projects: • REA • ERCEA • EASME • INEA • EACEA

  11. Associations • similar working methods as IGLO • but also common statements, advice papers, joint projects • examples: EUREKA, COST, EARTO, ERRIN, LERU, EUA etc. • smaller ones: EuroTech, Coimbra Group, Access EU • new instruments: EIT KICs, art. 185 and 187

Individual Institutions • aim: more visibility and direct lobbying, trainings and writing proposals • usually the case of bigger Member States • real expertise in the office is possible • examples: • DE - Helmholtz, Max Planck, Leibniz, DLR, Fraunhofer, BayFOR, DAAD • UK – Wolverhampton UNI, TSB • ES – A4U • NL - TNO

  13. Recommendations (1) • well structured and updated web (even in English) • direct link from the homepage to European and international cooperation activities • research team profiles (in English) • full exploitation of membership in European and international bodies

  14. Recommendations (2) • full use of all contacts made during other cooperation (projects, events etc.) • synergies within the university / research organization: projects financed by different sources should be managed by one department
