Reminder – objectives of the regional conferences • Each Regional Commission holds a Conference every two years in one of the countries of the region • The Conferences focus on technical items and on regional cooperation relating to animal health, animal welfare and animal food production safety issuesin the region • During the Conferences, elaboration of recommendations and reports

  8. 25th Conference (Fleesensee, September 2012) Main outcomes: • The setting up of an OIE regional mechanism/platform for animal welfare, to facilitate the implementation of OIE animal welfare standards in all countries of the region • The setting up of a ‘procedure’ to establish common regional positions among the Member Countries of the OIE Regional Commission for Europe during the process of adopting OIE standards • The clarification by the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Standards Commission of the expression ‘emerging disease’ and the specific circumstances and procedures for notifying emerging diseases • 2 recommendations + 1 report
